Daphne du Maurier Award-winning author Kate Carlisle wrote for twenty years before becoming an overnight sensation when her debut mystery landed on the New York Times bestseller list and hit number one on the Independent Mystery Bookseller Association’s bestseller list for February 2009. Kate spent sixteen years in television production and one dismal year in law school, where she turned to writing crime fiction as a way to lawfully kill off her evil contracts professor. The murderous urges faded but her desire to write remained strong, culminating in the publication of Homicide in Hardcover: A Bibliophile Mystery, featuring rare book restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright. Kate is a member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and Romance Writers of America. She lives with her husband near the beach in Southern California and loves to talk to readers about books, both making them and writing them.
