Toby Estler, M.A., MFTI, is a Marriage and Family Therapist intern and the author of Running Home. An avid runner, he logs thousands of miles annually, and writes and blogs about the inner and outer landscapes that he traverses in a style that is honest, uplifting, and entertaining. As a writer who completes many marathons and ultramarathons each year, he understands intimately the nature of writing as an endurance sport—and how to reach the finish line. A saboteur and demonstrator who served time in jail, a former 60-a-day smoker and drug user, and a man whose choices almost broke apart his marriage—Estler also knows what real transformation is about: looking for, discovering, and learning from everything that life brings. A speaker, facilitator, and writing coach, Estler belongs to the L.A. Poets’ and Writers’ Collective, has performed several times at Royce Hall, and makes a wicked leek and potato soup.
